We were in need of an adventure...

For quite some time, we've wanted an adventure, not just for our family but also for our little cinema!

So, we took the daring step of relocating from sunny Worthing to the less sunny Glasgow, and we haven't regretted it. In the summer of 2024, after a decade in Worthing, we all made the big move north and have since settled in Southside, Glasgow.

This provided OneBum with a fantastic opportunity to explore

more events north of the border, and over the past few years, we've had a wonderful time!

Manipulate

We started reaching out to numerous festivals, venues, and artists, and one of the first to respond was Dawn Taylor, an outstanding Director and CEO of  Manipulate Festival.

Maniuplate Festival is a celebration of excellence in visual theatre, puppetry and animated film, the festival features a thrilling mix of acclaimed international performances and bold new Scottish creations, alongside an expanded animated film programme.

After we met for a quick coffee and soon realized that oneBum could be an ideal match for the festival. We embarked on an extensive library tour around the city, bringing Scottish-made work to the suburbs of Edinburgh and showcasing it to many local communities that would not normally find these brilliant films. Three years in now and in 2026 we embarked on the biggest tour yet a three month stint covering Wester Halls, Oxgangs, Mordun, Drumbrae and a pop-up at the independent cinema - Filmhouse!

Sea Change

Our next destination was the stunning island of Tiree, renowned for its excellent beaches, breathtaking sunsets (just look at that picture!), and its notable scarcity of trees, only 13 on the entire island!

Tiree is also the westernmost island off the mainland, which made the three-hour boat journey from Oban an exciting part of the trip to be part of Sea Change's program.

Sea Change is Scotland’s only annual film festival focused on empowering women in film, showcasing incredible films directed and produced by women throughout the weekend.

Highlighting women behind the camera, the Sea Change Film Festival serves as a beacon from the western edge, uniting people through cinema. Anna curated a fantastic program, and we set off for the island. A fun fact: while we were there, we engaged with 10% of the island's population!

We've also been able to explore many more opportunities up here including music festivals, Glasgow Short Film Festival (2027) and a few more in the pipeline so watch this space as the next couple of years look fun!
